Miss Arthur を始めたのは 3 年ほど前です。私たちはすでに、アンティークショップ「The Drill Hall Emporium」を 20 年以上、ステーショナリーショップ「Flywheel」を 10 年近く経営していましたが、以前からホームグッズを扱う店を持ちたいと考えていました。「The Drill Hall Emporium」の隣のビルが空いたので、ホームグッズを扱う店にぴったりだと思い、オープンを決めました。いろいろと苦労もありましたが、素敵な店構えの特別な空間をつくることは、楽しくてやりがいのある仕事でした。 We started Miss Arthur nearly 3 years ago. We already had been running our antiques store, The Drill Hall Emporium for more than 20 years and Flywheel our stationery store for nearly 10 years, and had always wanted to have a complimentary home goods store. When the building next door to The Drill Hall Emporium became available, we decided it was perfect for such a store. It needed a lot of work, but it was fun and rewarding to renovate it to be a special space with a lovely shopfront. We really loved the attention to detail and the practicality of the goods produced by Fog Linen and knew the brand fitted in with our aesthetic and ethos. (if yes, what are they?) ヴィンテージの保存瓶を使ったキャンドル、母がヴィンテージのブランケットを再利用して作った湯たんぽカバーがあります。また、ハンドメイドの陶器ブランドによる「Miss Arthur」限定デザインのものも、たくさん扱っています。 We make our candles in vintage preserving jars, our mother makes hot water bottle covers from salvaged vintage woollen blankets and we also stock a lot of hand made pottery brands with exclusive designs for Miss Arthur. How do you like it? 真鍮のアイテム、特にブラスケーキスタンドが好きです。家族にお祝いがあるときに使っていて、シンプルなケーキも素敵に見せてくれます。また、職場にチョコレートケーキを持ち込んで、小さなキッチンでお茶をしながらケーキを食べるときにもよく使っています。 We love the brass items by Fog Linen, in particular the brass cake stand. We use this as a family for celebration cakes, it makes the simplest cake look stunning. We also like to bring chocolate cake to work and sit in our little shop kitchen for tea and cake.

fog の製品を取り扱ってくださっている海外の素敵な shop をご紹介。 かわいらしい女性が運営する Emma Kate Co. はオーストラリア、メルボルンにあるオリジナルステーショナリーの shop 。 エマが旅先で fog の商品と出会って、スーツケース半分を埋め尽くすほどの商品を持ち帰ったこときっかけで、お取引が始まったのです。彼女の shop には乙女心をくすぐる素敵な商品がたくさんありました。 Emma Kate Co. お店をオープンしたのはいつですか？ When did you start your store? 2020年12月にオープンしました。ステーショナリーブランドとして成長していくために、スタジオと倉庫を兼ねた広いオフィススペースを探していたところ、たまたまショップフロントもあるこの美しいスペースに出会いました。お店をオープンすることは想定していませんでしたが、本社移転のニュースを Instagram でシェアしたところ、私たちの大切なお客様から「Emma Kate Co.のお店はいつオープンするの？」というコメントをいただきました。そこで、当初予定していたスタジオやショールームではなく、ショップフロントを利用してポップアップストアのトライアルを行うことにしました。オープン後、私たちはすぐにこのお店を気に入り、ポップアップではなく、常設のお店にすることにしました。2 年経った今、この美しいブティックがない生活は考えられません。今後は、さらに美しいものへと成長、拡大する計画を立てています。 We opened our petite boutique in December 2020. We were looking for a new and bigger office space to accommodate our growing stationery brand's studio and warehouse, and we happened to come across the most beautiful space that also included a shopfront. We didn't imagine opening a store, but when we shared news of our new HQ on our Instagram page, suddenly all of our beautiful + loyal customers were asking "when is the Emma Kate Co. shopfront opening?!" and commenting that they couldn't wait until local and international borders opened, so that they could come and visit us! We decided to use the shopfront area to trial a pop up retail store (rather than the studio / showroom space we had originally planned). After opening, we instantly loved our petite boutique so much that we decided to make the popup much more permanent! Two years on, we couldn't imagine life without our beautiful boutique and we are making plans to grow and expand this part of our business into something even more beautiful. I came across the beautiful brass pieces when on honeymoon in Tasmania and browsing some beautiful local boutiques. It was love at first sight for me, and I took home half a suitcase full of beautiful Fog Linen Work wares. When I returned back to work from our holiday, I instantly applied to become a stockist too! After welcoming our fourth baby, Matilda, I chose to expanded the shop in several ways, moving headquarters from my dining room table, to a neighborhood brick and mortar location nearby. I made my first purchase from their online shop shortly thereafter, ordering simple, everyday items like their linen trays and basic kitchen cloths to use at home. In 2017 my husband Andrew and I traveled to Japan and we made a point to visit their physical store. Sadly it was closed, but I recall seeing a handwritten note sharing the shopkeeper was out to lunch, which I found so charming! I peered through the windows and soaked in the beauty of the space. The intentionality and the minimalism inspired me then, and does today. Seeing the shop in person was really special and inspirational. It definitely helped me make the jump from moving my online shop to a physical retail space, offering my customers the opportunity to see, smell, and touch all that we offer with a more holistic and sensory experience. I really love the minimal brass hardware and bowls, linen coated trays, pot holders, and chambray linen blankets in both stripe colors. Truthfully, we have Fog Linen goods all over our home, and each piece has only grown more beautiful with use over time. I think it’s really neat how versatile many of their products are. Q.今後、fogにどんな製品を望みますか？ What do you expect fog linen to produce for future? いろいろなリネンの生地やカラーバリエーション、真鍮のキッチンツール、そして将来的には編みかごも欲しいと思っています。 日本中、特に京都のお店などでで見かけるハンドメイドの編みかごをぜひ扱ってほしいです。 I foresee more linen fabric options and color-ways, perhaps more specialized brass kitchen tools, and maybe in the future, woven baskets. I would love for them to carry handmade woven baskets that you see in shops all over Japan, Kyoto specifically.

The towel rails make beautiful displays in store for our wrapping as well as the bowls, trays and simple decorations that transform small spaces. I love my little brass house ornament which reminds me that no matter how far I travel, home will always welcome me back again.
