Q.お店をオープンしたのはいつですか？またオープンしたきっかけは？
How and when did you start your store?
お店をオープンしたのは 2021 年です。1 年早くオープンするつもりでしたがパンデミックが発生したので、延期せざるを得なかったのです。
お店がある Logan Square というエリアは、ここシカゴの中でも、本当にクールで多様性に富んだ地域です。実は私はお店のすぐ近くに住んでいて、夫と私は、隣のレストランも経営しています。この地域に直接投資することは、私たちにとってとても重要なことでした。
なぜミルウォーキー・アベニュー*1 やスクエア*2 にしなかったのかと不思議に思われるかもしれませんが、私はこの場所に店を構えたかったのです。私たちにとっては徒歩 2 分の距離ですし、子供たちも学校帰りに立ち寄って一緒に遊べます。
私たちの商品はとてもユニークで、街の他の場所ではほとんど見つからないので、みんな時間をかけて訪れてきてくれるのよ。

I opened the shop in 2021. I intended to open it a year earlier, but the pandemic hit, so that was inevitably postponed.
Logan Square is a really cool & diverse neighborhood here in Chicago. I actually live around the corner from my shop. My husband & I own the restaurant next door. It was really important for us to invest directly into our community.
A lot of people wonder why I’m not located on Milwaukee Ave or on the Square- but I wanted it here.
It’s a 2 min walk to work for us & my kids can stop by after school & hang out with me.
Our goods are so unique, you won’t find most of it anywhere else in the city, so people take the time to pay us a visit.

What’s your favorite feature of the shop?
屋外のガーデンセンターです。
このスペースは、80 年代から空き家になっていた歯科医院でした。それはダイヤモンドの原石のようだったのですが、カーペットを剥がすと、オリジナルのウッドフロアが現れました。
天井を剥がすと、オリジナルのトタン天井がそのまま残っていました。
店の真ん中にデッドスペースがありましたが、これは換気と空気の流れのためのものです。
それを開放し、石積みの壁を床から天井までのガラスとフレンチドアに変え、ガーデンセンターを作りました。自然光をふんだんに取り入れることができ、この空間の予想外のデザインになっています。
The outdoor garden center.
This space was an abandoned dental office that was left vacant since the 80’s.It was a diamond in the rough though. When we peeled back the gnarly carpet we found the original wood floors.
When we tore down the drop ceilings the original tin ceilings were perfectly in tact.
There was this sort of dead space in the center of the shop, it was meant for ventilation & air flow.
We opened it up & replaced the drywall wall with floor to ceiling glass & French doors, creating a garden center. It brings in tons of natural light & is an unexpected twist to the design of the space.
Q. Fog に今後期待することは何ですか？
What do you expect fog linen to produce for future?
